They Might Be Giants

at Water Street Music Hall on April 30th, 1999.

This concert is being put on by WBER, the coolest radio station ever. They've got some info on the event.

So, I was wondering how I was going to get tickets. I can't (and didn't want to) go through TicketMaster, because it's too late for them to mail tickets, and to pick them up, I'd need to take my dad's credit card, my dad's photo ID, and, well, my dad. I called WBER and after a bit, I found myself on the guest list! So, my guest and I show up, and get in for free! It's that easy. I'm still willing to take anyone who wants to go, but right now it's just me and my sister Rachel. Mike Brion and Ryan Searfoss both might be coming. They don't plan to sell out, so you've got till the last minute to decide.

After the concert, I'm going to crash at my Aunt Barb's house in Rochester, and then I'll make my way home starting sometime in the morning on Saturday.

The Water Street Music Hall ended up being this club type place. We were on the floor (the balcony looked more than a bit unsafe) and we started out with pretty decent spots, but we more or less lost them throughout the show, as our desire to fight with drunk guys to be a few feet closer to stage just wasn't there. Another fantastic, high-energy performance by TMBG. Flans had a bass drum, for Whistling in the Dark, which was cool to hear. I got really tired near the end of the show, must get more fluids next time. Before the show, we heard soundcheck, and I got all three Dans to autograph my copy of Severe Tire Damage.
