Party of the millennium?

Without a doubt!

At the end of the current millennium?

Hell no, fool!

Are you invited?

Most likely yes! Friends of Dylan Flipse and their friends are all invited. Basically, everyone who'd have any desire to be there is welcome.

Ok, here's the deal. Three years running (Starting in 97 with about nine people.), I've been having the parties that I call "January Bashes." My birthday is in January, and I've also got a lot of friends who celebrate their birthdays in that fine month, plus another large chunk with birthdays in December (quite nearby). Still, the JBs are less to celebrate birthdays and more of a general party time. I decided that the January Bash to follow JB99 would obviously be called JB2K and, hey...I hear some people are planning parties for Dec. 31, 1999. As I mentioned above, yes, I realize this party won't take place at the end of the millennium, century, or even decade...but that doesn't stop me from throwing the party of the millennium.

Ideally, all my friends will be here. It'd even be cool if I met some new people at this thing. I can say right now that there will be parental supervision. (First, it's necessary if I'm going to get permission to throw a party. Second, it means a lot more people can come, considering that my group of friends extends into both sexes and over a fairly large age range. Third, this isn't the place to look for a wild and crazy party, substance-wise, anyway.)

What's going to be happening here? All the necessities will be provided. Probably don't even need to say it, but televisions with cable for the big midnight moment, lots and lots of food, and lots and lots and lots of soda will be available. My basement, of course, has air-hockey, fooseball, and ping-pong/pool tables, plus a dartboard. We will have some DJ-style sound gear (I do believe). The basement is a good place for music and such. I think we'll have an Trivial Pursuits board for the annual Couch-sitters vs Floor-dwellers Morning After Trivia Battle. Other than that, it's largely up to you. Send me an email with any ideas. (Especially if it's something I'd need to prepare for in advance.) Bring your guitar or bass, big groups of people always make fun jam sessions. Plus, at some point, the Mr./Miss JB2K Pagent will be held, to determine once and for all- Who's cuter, Liz Learn or Dylan Flipse? (Sure, I've obviously got her beat, but it'll be nice to make it official.) It will be emceed by Marshall Roupp and include formal wear, everyday wear, and swimsuit competitions, plus a question and response.

So you need to send me an email, telling me what's what for your status at JB2K. (Putting JB2K in the subject will save me a few minutes, most likely.) If your parents are convinced the world is going to fall apart and that burrowing into your back yard will help you, then get in touch with me and tell me that you can't make it. If you think you might need a ride or be able to provide rides from somewhere, be sure to tell me that. I pretty much also need a phone number. If I don't hear from you, expect me to be getting in touch.

Wrapup

Well, what a time that was. Party started on Friday night...Tom shows up Monday at dinnertime. Here is the timeline of comings and goings, as nearly as I can remember it-

Ok, I hope that's a half-decent rundown of the events. It included none of the breaking, hacking, and fixing computer bits, interesting as they were. Anything I've forgotten, or detail you'd like to add, feel free to send it on over to dylan@flipse.com, as usual. Thanks. Now, we've also got the occasional picture of the event.

Charlie went right home, got pictures developed and scanned. He put up Charlie's Pictures of Really Wild People and Things, a Pic Page containing lots of random shots from his most recent visit to the northeast.

Anyone else with pictures, get in touch with me. I'm waiting on several people to get their rolls developed. I'll scan whatever you've got, if you don't want to or have the ability. I'm also more than glad to host such things on Flipse.com
